Dear Colleagues,

Interactive Streams of the Conference:

  • Target Based Discovery
  • Screening & Assays: Enabling Technologies
  • Discovery Chemistry & Drug Design
  • Supporting Innovation: Translational Approaches & Informatics Tools

Our Congress brings together a host of senior levelexperts to discuss recent developments in the industryand debate the best strategies and solutions toimprove drug discovery going forward. The drug discovery landscape is changing rapidly. Withthe cost of bringing a drug to market rising, researchers are seeking innovative ways to increasethe efficiency of their R&D pipelines. On the first day ofour Drug Discovery INDIA Congress our expert panel ofspeakers will address the current strategies fordirected discovery, including the resurgence ofphenotypic screening and comparing its utility withtarget based discovery.
Our renowned speakers will explore novel peptidedrug discovery, strategies for target selection and incorporating genomic technologies into discoveryresearch.

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the organizing committee, I am honoured and delighted to welcome you to the World Congress on Drug Discovery and Development to be held from the 23rd, 24th & 25th November 2016 at J.N.TATA Auditorium, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Our technical program is rich and varied with 5 keynote speech and 30 invited talks and around 240 technical papers split between 3 parallel oral sessions and 3 poster sessions each day. Besides, there are 4 workshops and a tutorial program co-located. We also expect to provide Technical demonstrations and numerous opportunities for informal networking.

As a conference chair of World Congress on Drug Discovery and Development, I know that the success of the conference depends ultimately on the many people who have worked with us in planning and organizing both the technical program and supporting social arrangements. In particular, we thank the Program Chairs for their wise advice and brilliant suggestion on organizing the technical program the Program Committee for their thorough and timely reviewing of the papers, and our sponsors who have helped us to keep down the costs of World Congress on Drug Discovery and Development for all participants. Recognition should go to the Local Organizing Committee members who have all worked extremely hard for the details of important aspects of the conference programs and social activities.

Invitation

Dr.V.P.Rao,

Chairman,
BioGenesis Health Cluster

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the World Congress on Drug Discovery and Development to be held from the 23rd, 24th & 25th November 2016 at J.N.TATA Auditorium, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The current pharmaceutical industry business model is both economically unsustainable and operationally incapable of acting quickly enough to produce the types of innovative treatments demanded by global markets. In order to make the most of these future growth opportunities, the industry must fundamentally change the way it operates. Most Big Pharma companies have traditionally done everything from research and development (R&D) through to commercialization themselves. However, by 2020 this model will no longer work for many organizations. If they are to prosper, they will need to improve their R&D productivity, reduce their costs, tap the potential of the emerging economies and switch from selling medicines to managing outcomes.

Drug discovery represents the first step in the creation of new drugs, and takes place in academic institutions, biotech companies, and large pharmaceutical corporations. Until recently, these sectors have each operated independently with little collaboration between those at the forefront of discovery research and those with experience in developing drugs. With the rise of translational research these relationships are shifting and new hubs are emerging, as key players seek to pool the expertise necessary to generate new therapies by linking laboratory discoveries directly to unmet clinical needs. BioGenesis Health Cluster aims at creating an international platform to discuss modern trends and increasing adoption of translational research, which can lead to novel integrated discovery nexuses that may change the landscape of drug discovery.

The conference aims to provide many interesting perspectives on how science and technology of drug discovery & development are changing rapidly, thereby providing new opportunities and challenges to scientists and medical doctors.

We hope the program of plenary lectures, symposia and workshops, oral presentations and posters will be scientifically stimulating and lead to new collaborations and research opportunities. We welcome our many international guests and hope you enjoy the meeting and your visit to Bengaluru.
